Shockwave Therapy Near Narre Warren

Radial shockwave therapy uses a handheld applicator against the skin to deliver pressure pulses to a selected area. It does not involve an injection or an incision. Pakenham Osteopathy offers this technique as one possible part of care for musculoskeletal symptoms, following an assessment.

The device is only one part of the decision. Understanding what is causing your pain, how long it has been present and what you have already tried matters more than choosing a treatment from a list. You can read further about our shockwave therapy service.

Is Shockwave Worth Discussing for Persistent Heel or Tendon Pain?

Persistent heel or tendon pain can limit walking, work or sport, and the same sore area can have different contributing factors. Your osteopath will ask how the problem started, how it behaves with activity and rest, and which treatments or exercises you have tried. They may examine movement and the painful area before discussing options.

Shockwave is sometimes considered for selected longer-lasting heel or tendon complaints. Evidence of benefit differs between conditions and people, so an appointment should help you understand both the possible role of treatment and its limits. Your plan may place more emphasis on exercise, activity changes or another approach.

If pain has continued despite rest or earlier treatment, the next step is not automatically a stronger procedure. It helps to review how much the area is being loaded, what you can still do comfortably and whether the original diagnosis remains the best explanation. That conversation can change the treatment recommendation.

What a Shockwave Appointment May Involve

Your osteopath starts with your history, examination and discussion of the care already tried. If radial shockwave is suitable and you choose it, gel is applied and a handheld applicator delivers pulses over the selected area. The treatment can feel uncomfortable. Temporary local soreness or skin redness may follow. Tell your practitioner about health conditions, medicines and any concern about the procedure before deciding.

There is no universal number of sessions. Your osteopath should explain the proposed plan and reassess your response. Exercise, changes to activity or other osteopathic care may be discussed alongside the device treatment.

You can ask what signs would suggest continuing, changing or stopping a treatment approach. It is also useful to discuss how everyday walking, work or sport will be managed while symptoms are present. A device session alone does not answer those practical questions.

From Narre Warren to a Pakenham Appointment

Pakenham Osteopathy is at 46 Main Street, Pakenham, rather than in Narre Warren. If you are weighing the clinic location and treatment approach, see our osteopathy information for Narre Warren clients and contact details.

You do not need to know in advance whether shockwave is the right treatment. Bring any relevant history of the problem and questions about what has or has not helped. We can assess the issue and talk through the options.

If you have been given imaging results or a previous management plan, bring them along if available. They may help your osteopath understand the history, although the current symptoms and examination still matter. You should leave with an explanation of the recommended next step and the reasons behind it.
